Electric supply lines
They supply electric power to mobile devices, especially hoists and cranes, along their runways.
There are three main types:
- Festoon systems with flat cable.
- Enclosed conductor systems.
- Cable reels.
- They consist of a profile parallel to the runway, inside which run carriages from which hang the feed hoses, usually flat, although they can also be round.
- It is complete with accessories for the connection of profiles, supports, stops, etc.
- They consist of a PVC profile parallel to the runway, inside which there are copper plates, normally square (three phases + ground), although they can have more depending on specific needs.
- A current collector trolley runs inside this profile to power the crane or hoist.
- It is also completed with splices. supports, suspensions, etc.
- This is a drum on which the round power cable is wound or unwound.
- It can be fixed or rotating depending on the type of runway, curved or straight.
- In the latter case it must be rotating if it is placed in the center of the runway in order to reach both ends.
- The action of winding the cable inside the drum can be done by means of a spring or an electric motor.
- In all three cases, the section of the hoses or bars will depend on the maximum admissible current required, depending on the power of the motors, type of starter, length, etc.
- All three systems can be used on curved runways.
- The drum winder is most commonly used in the case of track changes, and especially on outdoor gantries.
